Data Processors: the new reality

September 24th, 2018

data processors

Interesting article from Fieldfisher Law on how certain companies – especially those who make use of their customers’ data – are now considering that the new GDPR constraints placed on them by being Data Processors are too restrictive.  They are now re-contracting themselves as Data Controllers.  They have a similar level of liability – so why not?

Companies who outsource processing functions to other organisations need to be aware of this.  In some instances, you may not have been aware of how your Data Processor was using your or your clients’ data.  It may not be the right thing for your company or your clients.
